2016 Willamette Valley Chardonnay
ALC 13.5% Cases Produced: 250
Complex and intense nose of flint, wet stone, salted caramel apple, citrus pie, honeycomb and chestnut. The mouthfeel is vibrant upfront and creamy on the midpalate. It’s juicy, yet refined on a very crisp, toasted brioche finish that shows intensity and mineral characteristics.
Framed by the Coast Range mountains to the west and Cascade Mountains to the east, the Willamette Valley AVA forms a cool-climate growing basin ideally suited for the production of traditional Burgundian varieties. With an array of different soil types and microclimates, the quality and complexity of Willamette Valley wine has garnered a fierce international reputation.
95 Points – Wine Enthusiast Magazine
(Editors’ Choice) “With the third vintage of this wine, Winemaker Bruno Corneaux cements his place among the top rung of Chardonnay producers in Oregon. Using a hands on approach tied to traditional Burgundian techniques, he has attained complex apple butter, flinty stone, caramel, brioche and roasted chestnut flavors. The cascading details throughout the long finish make drinking this a riveting experience.”
93 Points – Purely Domestic Wine Report
“The nose is a lush and rich lemon crème, hazelnut, crème brûlée and notes of salt. The palate is a well-textured white fruit and lemon with lean crisp core of bright acidity. Drink 2017 – 2024.”
