Wine Info
THE WINE
Deep, dark color. The nose expresses violets, cola, blackcurrent, sweet leather and strawberries. The primary palate has a generous fruit burst followed by a secondary wave of spicy, black cherry flavors and firm tannins with a complex expression of the iron soils characteristic of the Hyland vineyard.
THE AVA
Nestled in the weather shadow of the Coast Range mountains, vineyards in the McMinnville AVA benefit from longer ripening periods and the resulting wines show beautiful purity of fruit. Predominantly marine sedimentary soils are interrupted with scatterings of basalt which make not only vineyard selection, but block selection, an important task for a winemaker.
